Tell CNN to choose Common Cause's video question for the July 23rd debate

On Monday, July 23rd, the Democratic presidential candidates will participate in an historic debate, responding to questions submitted via YouTube. Common Cause president Bob Edgar has a question: which, if any, of the candidates support public financing?

There are too many problems that we should be fixing already - the environment, the health care system, our energy policy - but powerful special interests stand in the way with millions of dollars in campaign cash.

Fundraising has become a huge part of political campaigns. Candidates are forced to compete for cash, making wealthy donors and special interest groups a priority ahead of ordinary voters.  When the debate turns to issues like the environment, the health care system, or our energy policy, it's those powerful special interests whose voices are heard, rather than regular American voters.

I want to know what the candidates will do to reduce the influence of big money on public policy, and which (if any) of them will support public financing. It's time to ask them where they stand, and this is a perfect chance to do it.
